Version: 2.0
Effective Date: 16 May 2026
Review Date: 16 May 2027
Responsible Person: Cathy Brown – Director, Boxology® Academy

1. Purpose

Boxology® Academy is committed to creating inclusive and accessible learning environments for all learners.

This policy outlines how reasonable adjustments may be applied to ensure learners are not disadvantaged during training or assessment due to a disability, medical condition, injury, learning difference or other support need.

This policy aligns with guidance from our awarding organisations and professional standards bodies: CIMSPA.

2. What Is a Reasonable Adjustment?

A reasonable adjustment is any arrangement that helps reduce the effect of a disability or difficulty that may place a learner at a disadvantage during learning or assessment.

Reasonable adjustments must:

  • Maintain the integrity of the qualification

  • Not provide unfair advantage

  • Allow learners equal opportunity to demonstrate competence

  • Be appropriate to the learner’s needs

3. Examples of Reasonable Adjustments

Adjustments may include:

  • Additional assessment time

  • Rest breaks

  • Adapted learning materials

  • Modified assessment arrangements

  • Support for medical conditions

  • Accessibility considerations

  • Alternative assessment environments where appropriate

4. Learner Responsibilities

Learners are encouraged to inform Boxology® Academy of any support requirements as early as possible during enrolment.

Learners may be asked to provide supporting information where appropriate to help determine suitable adjustments.

5. Boxology® Academy Responsibilities

Boxology® Academy will:

  • Treat all requests fairly and confidentially

  • Consider requests on an individual basis

  • Liaise with awarding organisations where required

  • Ensure assessment validity is maintained

  • Make reasonable efforts to support accessibility and inclusion

Any support requirements identified during enrolment will be referred to the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) team where appropriate.

6. Limitations

In some circumstances, it may not be possible to apply a requested adjustment if doing so would:

  • Compromise safety

  • Prevent essential competency assessment

  • Affect qualification integrity

  • Create an unfair advantage

Where adjustments cannot reasonably be applied, Boxology® Academy will explain the reasons clearly and discuss alternative options where possible.

7. Appeals

Learners may appeal decisions relating to reasonable adjustments through the Boxology® Academy Appeals Procedure.

8. Confidentiality

All information relating to reasonable adjustments will be handled sensitively and confidentially in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
